When one looks back on their life they will see quiescent periods of remarkable stability. I refer to such periods as normalcy; periods of life that are stable and normal. While normalcy may have change, that change occurs over years, or even decades. It is slow, often steady, growth....
Interspersed between these periods of normalcy are periods of anything but a normal stable life. These are periods of significant change, often huge steps occurring over days, weeks, or months. These changes, unlike those that occur in normalcy, are very evident to the individual as they are occurring. These in-between periods I term chaos....
My chaos period—I look back and see the whole period covered by this book as a single chaos-filled adventurous exciting fun time—began when I graduated from high school and went off to college; it continued for just over seventeen years.
