| Checking the Party Primary box on the Main page will indicate that the election/ballot style is for a party primary election. Checking this box will present a drop down options box where the party for this ballot style may be selected. If the box is unchecked, party selection is not available. | |
| The primary party has no effect on manually entered data or on data previously entered and being reused. For example, assume data is imported, a report produced, the "Main" button is clicked to return to the main page; then any changes to the party or the checkbox will have no effect if you then click "Manual" and "Run". | |
| The only time the party information is important is when importing data from a text file. The party is used as a filter, using the following rules: | |

Party Primary box not checked |
No filtering is applied. All records in the input file are processed and used to generate the report. This is the normal import condition. |

Party Primary box checked A Party selected |
Filtering is applied. Only those records of the input file are processed and used to generate the report where the party matches the selected party or is NON, for non-partisan. |

Party Primary box checked Party NON selected |
Filtering is applied. Only those records of the input file are processed and used to generate the report where the party is NON, for non-partisan. |
